It’s been a big week so far in the Fighting Game Community with the Street Fighter V update and information regarding the new Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. But what we thought were just updates became hints to what gamers can expect from the two titles.
Street Fighter V Leak
As mentioned, the SFV update added the latest character, Ed, a surrogate of M. Bison, to the roster. In the character’s backstory, he talks to a fortune teller about his history. The internet, since the release of the update, has been buzzing with fans believing she may be the next downloadable character (DLC).
The reason behind the speculation is because she is said to be the apprentice of former Street Fighter character Rose, who herself is a fortune teller. Other indications include her character design matching the silhouette of the next DLC character following Ed.
Since the update is new with the inclusion of Ed, we won’t know if this is true for a few months, but we’re anxious to find out.
Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite Leak
Probably the most anticipated fighting game of the year, besides Tekken 7, is MVCI. It’s been six years since we’ve gotten the crossover title. Honestly, I didn’t think the game was going to happen with all the copyright issues from Disney and Sony, but my prayers were answered.
There was a leak this week that showed all the characters who will appear in the upcoming game. When I heard about the leak, the only character that came to my mind was Venom, but disappointment hit when he wasn’t mentioned. Besides that heartbreak, more sad feelings occurred when there were no mention of the X-Men, especially Wolverine, who’s been in the series since the beginning.
This is going back to the licensing issue with the X-Men and Sony. I believe the creators wanted to keep it within the Marvel Universe, as permission was granted for the character use. However, we can’t count them out just yet because of three special letters, DLC.
Maybe we’ll get Wolverine back, or even Storm and Magneto. In the meantime, let’s pretend we still have the same level of excitement, even if it’s a little less than before. The collector’s edition will serve as a bandage, as you will receive statues of Mega Man, Chun-Li, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel; all six infinity stones, and character costumes. The game is scheduled for release on Sept. 19.
As gamers, it’s a natural feeling of wanting more, and wanting it now. Between the SFV leak of the fortune teller character and MVCI, it’s shaping up to be an interesting Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this year.
